Hello Reader,
The first four months of the year have provided us with a great opportunity to take a step back and reflect on all the incredible things that have happened so far.
Shall we go over them?
We spoke to Bradley Want, VP of Kuda, on how Kuda Bank has been able to grow in millions of users within the past few years. He shared his career journey— from working at Apple, to Appsflyer, to Kuda, and what he enjoys about working in a multicultural company like Kuda. He also went in-depth into what every successful growth marketing team needs, the marketing priorities for startups, his two cents on team structure, and more. It was a very insightful conversation.Â
We talked to Kemi Olawoye of BabyMigo, Nigeria’s largest parenting community, in order to discover all the amazing things the company is currently doing. Kemi shared her career path. From studying physiotherapy at the University, to building a product that is currently helping over 250,000 users learn how to navigate parenthood better. A very interesting part of her interview was her thoughts and opinions on building for an African market. We made a carousel about it here.
Then Yomi Adedeji of Softcom (a solution provider company for businesses) shared his amazing story with us: from Covenant University to Softcom, and now Eyowo. He really emphasized on the power of connecting with the right people, and the role played in his success as an entrepreneur. He also shared the importance of finding the right market for your product and gave valuable nuggets of advice to younger entrepreneurs.Â
On International Women’s Day, we revisited past videos to glean insight from the wonderful women we have interviewed so far, on what being a woman working in the Black/African tech scene feels like, the numerous challenges they face, and how they have been able to win regardless of these obstacles. It was a lovely campaign!Â
A few days later, we spoke to Rotimi Ogunwede, CMO of Patricia on what marketing within Africa’s biggest crypto company looks like, and in the process, we found out how the company was able to triple its amount of users in a month!
And the icing on the cake: we hosted our very first physical FC event in London. This was a very special experience. We partnered with one of our favourite sponsors, Appsflyer, and invited a number of Founders, Operators and Investors in the UK for a night of networking and connecting. We had the best time! You can check out more images of the event here.
In summary, the past few months have been exciting, but there are many more exciting stories and experiences ahead of us.
Stay ‘connected.’ 😉💜
Till next time!
