Hello FC Community,
We are excited to announce the release of a new Founders Connect video!
In this interview, we had the pleasure of speaking with Joe Kinvi, Founding Partner at HOAQ, and gained some valuable insights from his story that you wouldn't want to miss!
Joe discussed his background, including how he was born in Togo, moved to Ireland when he was ten, and learned English. He then talked about how he received a scholarship to study accounting in Dublin and worked at Ernst & Young as an auditor, which was an enlightening experience for him.
He also talked about his journey into tech, sharing how he left his auditing job to pursue his passion for music and entrepreneurship. He worked at a music management firm and later joined a tech startup called Touchteck Payments, which was eventually acquired by Stripe. Then he moved to Stripe after the acquisition, and then Paystack for a year.
Although it has been a path with many twists and turns, there has also been a lot to learn from it.
Finally, Joe discussed his current venture with Nubi Kayode, another tech entrepreneur. He explained how they met and co-founded HoaQ, an investment club for African tech startups. HoaQ aims to make capital and mentorship more accessible to African founders, and they are doing an amazing job so far!
The episode ends with Joe talking enthusiastically about the challenges and opportunities of investing in Africa, and his advice for aspiring entrepreneurs. We won’t tell you all the insightful things he said because we want you to hear it directly from him.
